IBO Player Pro is a media player app: it plays the playlist your iptv provider gives you, and it does not come with any channels of its own. You install it on the television or streaming device, note the MAC address and device key it shows on the first screen, then add your playlist through the developer’s website against those two codes. This page walks through that setup on the devices common in Canadian homes, explains who you actually pay when the app asks for activation, and covers the errors people run into, in the order they usually appear.

What IBO Player Pro is, and what it is not
Think of the app as an empty shelf. It knows how to show a channel list, a programme guide and a video, but the shelf stays empty until you give it a playlist from a service you subscribe to. That is the most common misunderstanding: people pay for the app, see nothing, and assume it is broken.
So there are always two separate things: the player, and the subscription that fills it. They come from different companies, they are paid for separately, and a problem with one is rarely a problem with the other.
You will also see the names IBO Player, IBO Pro and IBO Player Pro used loosely in app stores and forums. Treat each listing as its own app. They share the same way of working, with a MAC address, a device key and a web page for adding playlists, but an activation bought for one does not carry over to another, so check which one is on your screen before you pay for anything.
Devices IBO Player Pro runs on
The app is built for the living room: smart television app stores and Android hardware, with the same setup everywhere once it is installed.
| Device | Where to get the app | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung smart TV | The built-in app store on the television | Older sets may not list it; search the store by name before assuming it is missing |
| LG smart TV | The LG content store | Update the television first, since outdated firmware hides newer apps |
| Firestick | The Amazon app store, or a sideload if it is not listed in your region | Use the remote’s microphone to search; typing on the stick is slow |
| Android TV and Google TV boxes | Google Play on the device | Works well on a wired connection |
| Android phone or tablet | Google Play | Handy for checking a playlist before you set up the television |
Store listings change by model and by region, so search by name before deciding the app is missing. Our guides for iptv on a Samsung television, iptv on an LG television and the Firestick setup cover the device side in more detail, including what to do when the store search comes back empty.

Load your playlist with the MAC and device key
This is the part that confuses people, because you do not type your login into the television at all. The playlist is added on a web page, and the app downloads it the next time it starts.
- Open the app once. The first screen shows a MAC address, which is a hardware style identifier written as six pairs of letters and numbers, and a device key. Write both down, or take a photo of the screen with your phone.
- On a phone or computer, open the developer’s official website and find the page for managing playlists. For the Pro app, that is the IBO Pro website.
- Enter the MAC address and the device key exactly as shown. The MAC address uses the digit zero, never the letter O, and mixing the two up is a common typo.
- Add the playlist. Paste the M3U link your provider sent you, or the server address, username and password if the page offers that option, and give the playlist a name you will recognise.
- Save, then close the app on the television completely and open it again. It should now load your channel list.
Paste the details rather than retyping them: one wrong character in a long link looks exactly like an expired subscription from the television screen. If you want to know what a MAC address is and why an app uses it to identify your screen, Wikipedia’s explanation covers the idea well.
Activation: who you pay and why
After installation the app normally runs for a limited trial period, and then it asks for activation. That activation is a fee to the app’s developer, paid on the developer’s own website, and it licenses the player on that one device. It has nothing to do with your iptv subscription, and nothing to do with us.
Three things follow from that.
- Activation is per device. It is tied to the MAC address, so a second television needs its own activation.
- The price and terms are the developer’s. They set the amount and decide whether it is yearly or for the life of the device, and they can change it. Check the current terms on the official site at the moment you pay.
- Only pay on the official site. Copycat pages that take activation payments exist. If a page asks for your card details anywhere other than the developer’s own domain, stop.
If you would rather not pay for a player at all, there are good alternatives. Our comparison of the best iptv players in Canada sets IBO against the other common apps, including ones with no activation fee.

Common IBO Player Pro errors
Most errors fall into four groups. Work through them in this order, since the first ones take seconds to rule out.
“Device not activated” or “trial expired”
The app’s own trial has ended. Your subscription may be perfectly healthy. Activate the app on the developer’s site against the MAC address shown on the screen, then restart it. If you already paid, compare the MAC on the screen with the one on your receipt: a mismatch means the payment went to a different device.
“Playlist failed to load” or an empty list
The app reached the playlist address and got nothing usable back. Check the link for typos first. Then confirm the subscription is active, and test the same details in another app on a phone. If they fail there too, the issue is the account, and that is the moment to message us.
The playlist disappeared after a reinstall
On some devices, removing and reinstalling the app, or clearing its data, gives it a new MAC address and device key. The old playlist is still stored against the old codes. Read the new codes off the screen and add the playlist again.
Channels load but the picture stutters
That is a network question, not an app question. A cable to the router, or the 5 GHz wifi band, fixes most of it.

IBO Player Pro compared with other players
Every player does the same basic job, so the choice comes down to cost, how you like to add a playlist, and which devices you own.
| Question | IBO Player Pro | Typical alternative |
|---|---|---|
| How is the playlist added? | On a website, against the MAC and device key | Typed or pasted into the app itself |
| Is there a fee? | A per device activation after the trial | Varies: some free, some with an optional paid tier |
| Good on smart TVs? | Yes, that is its strength | Many players are Android only |
| Best suited to | Samsung and LG sets without a separate box | Android boxes and sticks |
In short: if you watch on a Samsung or LG television and do not want another box, IBO Player Pro is a sensible choice and the fee buys convenience. On a Firestick or an Android box, you have free options that are just as capable.
Whichever player you choose, you can test the service in it before paying for a subscription. The trial is free, needs no card and runs for up to 24 hours; request it on WhatsApp with the contact button here, and our free trial page sets out the steps. Ordering works the same way round: the order is placed first, a person confirms it with you on WhatsApp, normally within 15 to 30 minutes, payment comes after, and the login details follow once it is complete. Our support team helps many customers through exactly this MAC and key setup, around the clock, and answers as soon as it can.
Frequently asked questions
Is IBO Player free?
It is free to install and normally runs for a limited trial period. After that the developer asks for a paid activation on its own website, per device. The fee covers the player only, not any channels.
How do I add a playlist to IBO Player?
Open the app and note the MAC address and device key on the first screen. On the developer’s official website, enter both codes, paste your M3U link or login details, save, and restart the app on the television.
What is the difference between IBO Player and IBO Pro?
They are separate app listings that work the same way, with a MAC address, a device key and a web page for playlists. An activation bought for one does not transfer to the other, so check which app is installed before paying.
Why does it say my device is not activated?
The app’s own trial has ended, which is separate from your subscription. Activate it on the developer’s site against the MAC address on the screen. If you already paid, check that the MAC on your receipt matches the device.
Can I use IBO Player on more than one TV?
Yes, but each television needs its own activation, because it is tied to that device’s MAC address. Your subscription also has to allow it: our 2-device and 3-device plans are for watching on more than one screen at once.
